If your agency operates in or plans to expand in New York, pay attention: the New York State Department of Health (NY DOH) now limits county‐expansion add-ons for Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs) unless the county shows a “need” (fewer than five LHCSAs actively serving patients in that county).
Tip: Before applying to add a new county, gather proof of “active service” (plan of care in place) and research how many other LHCSAs are in the target county. Make this a slide for your board or filing‐team.
